The results of research on tumor tissues and blood samples of early Breast cancer patients showed new potential treatment pathways – the latest scientific news review by BIOMEDICA CRO team
Researchers from King’s College London and The Institute of Cancer Research, London, with support from Breast Cancer Now, have performed a deep dive into the different immune markers within tumor tissues and blood samples of early breast cancer patients whose cancer failed to respond to chemotherapy given to them prior to surgery.
Scientists have identified immune cell types that could be targeted to develop specific immunotherapies in chemotherapy-resistant breast cancers. Also, they showed that blood monitoring during chemotherapy may help predict chemotherapy response early, potentially allowing for tailoring of treatment before surgery.
Professor Andrew Tutt, Director of the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, and of the Breast Cancer Now Research Unit at King’s College London, said:
“This exciting work advances our understanding of the interaction between cancer cells and the immune system during treatment and why existing treatments work well for some patients but not others. I hope this research will help us to enhance the anti-cancer immune response in breast cancer, particularly for patients whose cancer has not responded well to chemotherapy.”

Human biological samples collection and how BIOMEDICA CRO participates in cancer research
At BIOMEDICA CRO we collect various human biospecimens with associated clinical data and provide them to scientists worldwide since 2017.
Our main area is oncology – Breast, CRC, Ovarian, Prostate, Lung, Kidney and Stomach cancer patients can become donors for your research.
It is feasible to collect samples from:
- Treated and treatment-naïve donors;
- Donors on the different treatment stages (before, during, or after the therapy);
- Donors on the surgery day and as well as after the tumor resection.
We propose tissue samples (tumor/NAT FFPE blocks, fresh frozen tissue samples, histological slides, and lymph nodes), blood samples (plasma, serum, buffy coat, PBMC) and other biofluids from cancer subjects.
Besides oncology, we have 50+ contracted clinical sites in a broad range of disease areas – kindly click here to review.
Due to our business model and direct communication with Primary Investigators, you will get the highest quality of human biospecimen and insurance that all project details are followed. Our team is ready to join new projects and contribute to scientific cooperation!
