Oleuropein as naturopathy for human Endometriosis treatment – the review of the latest scientific articles by BIOMEDICA CRO team
10% of women worldwide have Endometriosis – that’s 176 million worldwide, following the statistics. The cause of this disease is unknown and there is no definite cure. Thus, many preclinical studies are constantly being conducted in various diagnostic centers and pharmaceutical companies.
The latest discovery by Dr. Sang Jun Han, corresponding author, associate professor of molecular and cellular biology in the Center for Reproductive Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, promises a new treatment method using oleuropein as naturopathy.
Working with cells in the lab, Han and his colleagues screened a library of natural products, searching for compounds that could be used to treat Endometriosis as non-hormonal therapies. The team found that oleuropein, a natural component found in olive leaves, selectively inhibits ER-beta activity, but not ER-alpha activity, and effectively suppresses the growth of mouse and human endometriosis lesions in mouse models.
“We are excited by these promising findings as they support further exploration of the value of oleuropein as naturopathy for human endometriosis treatment. Oleuropein is less expensive than hormonal therapy, and our current findings suggest that it is safer than current treatments.”

Endometriosis tissue samples, swabs and other biofluid samples collection by BIOMEDICA CRO – a trusted biospecimens provider since 2017
BIOMEDICA CRO is a global partner in prospective and retrospective collections of the numerous human biospecimen types and associated clinical data. Today, we have already recruited more than 25,000 subjects for various studies and continue working closely with scientists to improve the medical system and people’s lives.
We manage our network of 50+ direct contracts with hospitals and are always ready to make a new one if necessary. Due to reasonable access to the Gynecological departments, we can recruit the following subject for your studies:
- Endometriosis;
- Cervical erosion;
- Leiomyoma;
- Polyps;
- Dysplasia;
- Vaginitis, etc.
In addition to human biospecimens, we can obtain precise clinical data, laboratory test results and other valuable information for each case.
BIOMEDICA CRO team is proud to participate in preclinical trials, in-vitro diagnostics and biomarkers discovery. We will be happy to cooperate once you need an additional supplier of biospecimens for your research.
