BIOMEDICA CRO as a Global Biospecimen Provider for Clinical Research in Epigenetic Study
admin2026-07-21T22:47:19+00:00

BIOMEDICA CRO, a global biospecimen provider for clinical research ๐Ÿงฌ๐ŸŒ, is proud to announce its contribution to a recently published scientific study focused on advanced epigenetic profiling technologies ๐Ÿ”ฌ. The research, titled โ€œHigh-throughput epigenetic profiling immunoassays for accelerated disease research and clinical developmentโ€, was published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry (2025) and represents an important milestone in biomarker discovery and translational science ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿงซ.

The study was conducted by Belgian Volition SRL, a Belgian subsidiary of VolitionRx Limited and developer of the Nu.Qยฎ technology platform. The research team focused on the development and validation of high-throughput immunoassays designed to detect epigenetic modifications, particularly histone and nucleosome-related changes. These molecular signatures are increasingly recognized as key indicators of disease processes across oncology, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory conditions.

BIOMEDICA CRO as a Biospecimen Provider Supporting Epigenetic Research and Biomarker Development

Epigenetics plays a critical role in regulating gene expression without altering the DNA sequence itself. While genetic information defines the biological blueprint, epigenetic mechanisms determine how that blueprint is interpreted in different biological and disease contexts.

Among the most important epigenetic mechanisms are post-translational modifications of histone proteins and nucleosomes. These modifications influence chromatin structure and gene accessibility, thereby regulating essential cellular functions such as immune response, cell differentiation, and disease progression.

In clinical research, epigenetic biomarkers are increasingly recognized for their potential to improve disease detection, monitoring, and patient stratification ๐Ÿ“Š. Their relevance spans multiple therapeutic areas, including cancer ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders, and chronic inflammation.

The publication describes the development and validation of 13 high-throughput immunoassays based on the Nu.Qยฎ platform. These assays enable efficient and scalable measurement of histone and nucleosome modifications, providing researchers with powerful tools for epigenetic profiling.

Compared to conventional analytical approaches, these assays significantly improve processing speed โฑ๏ธ, reproducibility, and scalability. This is particularly important for large clinical studies where robust and standardized data generation is essential ๐Ÿ“ˆ.

The validated assays support a wide range of applications in clinical research, including:

  • Identification of novel disease biomarkers ๐Ÿงฌ
  • Improved disease monitoring and patient stratification ๐Ÿฅ
  • Enhanced understanding of disease mechanisms ๐Ÿ”ฌ
  • Acceleration of precision medicine development โšก
  • Support for diagnostic innovation ๐Ÿงช

By enabling faster and more reliable epigenetic analysis, these technologies help bridge the gap between basic research and clinical application.

How a Global Biospecimen Provider Enables Innovation in Epigenetic Profiling and Precision Medicine

In this study, BIOMEDICA CRO contributed as a biospecimen provider, supplying high-quality human biological materials essential for assay development and validation ๐Ÿงซ.

Specifically, BIOMEDICA CRO provided:
โœ… Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) ๐Ÿฉธ
โœ… Fresh-frozen human tissue samples ๐Ÿงฌ

These biospecimens were critical for ensuring biological relevance and analytical robustness during assay development. The publication explicitly acknowledges BIOMEDICA CRO as the source of these materials.

Our role reflects a broader mission: supporting global scientific initiatives ๐ŸŒ by providing well-characterized, ethically sourced, and clinically relevant human biospecimens. As a global biospecimen provider for research, BIOMEDICA CRO enables scientists and biotechnology companies to accelerate innovation in diagnostics and therapeutic development ๐Ÿš€.

We would like to acknowledge the authors of the publication for their significant contribution to the field: Priscilla Van den Ackerveken, Clotilde Hannart, Dorian Pamart, Olivia Thiry, Marie Lurkin, Sรฉverine Vincent, Muriel Chapelier, Guillaume Rommelaere, Marielle Herzog, and their co-authors.

Their work represents an important advancement in the application of epigenetic profiling technologies for clinical research and biomarker discovery.

Supporting global biospecimen needs in biomedical research ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿงซ
