Significant progress in developing a vaccine to protect against Chlamydia, a prevalent Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) – an overview of the recent scientific news with BIOMEDICA CRO, your trusted provider of human biosamples 🧬
Researchers have made significant progress in developing a vaccine to protect against Chlamydia, a prevalent STI. A recent study reported that an experimental vaccine administered to lab mice helped them quickly clear subsequent infections. These vaccinated mice were also less likely to develop severe infections compared to unvaccinated ones.
“Our findings pave the way for a new generation of whole-cell, multivalent Chlamydia vaccines, offering a promising strategy to combat this global health challenge,” the study concludes.

While this experimental vaccine shows promise, researchers emphasize that it may still take time before a human trial is possible. Chlamydia continues to pose a significant public health challenge, with untreated infections potentially leading to severe complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which can increase the risk of infertility.
At BIOMEDICA CRO, we stand ready to assist in advancing research and improving outcomes in this critical area of healthcare.
How does BIOMEDICA CRO assist with Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) research projects? 🧬
BIOMEDICA CRO has been a global provider of various human biological samples since 2017. We offer prospective and retrospective collections of various human biospecimen types and associated clinical data. Our own network of 50+ direct contracts with hospitals in Ukraine allows us to participate in the research of a wide range of diseases.
In collaboration with Gynecology and Urology departments, we can collect samples from individuals diagnosed with various infecitions. Currently, we can provide biosamples from the following STI-positive subjects:
- Chlamydia trachomatis;
- Mycoplasma genitalium;
- Mycoplasma hominis;
- Trichomonas vaginalis;
- Ureaplasma urealyticum;
- Human herpesvirus 1/2, others;
- Control cohorts of STI-negative individuals are also available.
Biosample & associated data collection overview
🩸In our standard collection process, we can collect up to 40-50 ml of whole blood from each donor. This blood can then be processed into various biosample types, including plasma, buffy coat, serum, PBMC, and others. Additionally, we can provide urogenital swabs from both male and female donors, as well as urine, saliva, and other sample types for research purposes.
Thus, as our Customer, you will have the option to order matched sets of different sample types from a single donor.
📑 Furthermore, we provide comprehensive clinical data for each case alongside the biosamples. This includes general donor information, diagnostic methodologies, laboratory test results, and relevant additional details. All sample and donor data can be provided using our standard Data Manifest templates or in your preferred format, such as eCRFs, Google Forms, or other specified templates.
