When people hear “Laboratory Technician,” they often imagine someone quietly working with tubes and microscopes. And yes – there are tubes. Many tubes 😄 But behind each of them is something much bigger.
My day usually starts with checking incoming biosamples and reviewing documentation. Every biosample has its own story, and my job is to make sure that story continues accurately through proper processing.
Some days are all about complex blood processing – careful aliquoting, strict timing, and making sure everything follows SOPs down to the smallest detail. Other days involve urine, saliva, synovial fluid, or other biosample types – centrifugation, separation, freezing, and tracking. It may sound routine, but in reality, no two days are ever the same.
In the lab, we like to joke that we speak three languages fluently: science, documentation, and temperature control. But behind the humor stands serious responsibility. Every tube, every slide, every barcode matters – because these samples will support real research and, ultimately, real patients. We do understand that behind every biospecimen is a patient. A diagnosis. A hope for better treatment.
