“We are on the right way!”, – Lilia Kovalenko, Data Manager at BIOMEDICA CRO
Every day, many preclinical trials are being conducted in cooperation with biospecimens providers. As non-clinical investigations are mainly based on human samples, the high quality of these materials is crucially important for scientists’ future success.
“We are on the right way!”, – noted Data Manager and Biobanking Specialist at BIOMEDICA CRO, Lilia Kovalenko, after returning from the 18th Autumn Assembly of the European Pharmaceutical Students Association in Athens, Greece (1st-5th of November 2022).
The main topic of the assembly was “OMICS – THE FUTURE IS NOW” and the report on a new tool for integrating the microbiome in human healthcare by Julie Rodriguez, Ph.D., OMICS Project Manager at Pharmabiotic Research Institute and George P. Patrinos, Professor of Pharmacogenomics and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in the University of Patras (Greece).
In addition, speakers mentioned the role of Omics technologies in determining the presence of genes that can cause cancer.
Moreover, cancer care item was also discussed during the conference. Lilia particularly noted the speech of Ginger Blackmon, PharmD, NCODA, Senior Manager of Clinical Initiatives, about Personalized Medicine, as this topic is closely related to our operations in preclinical trials and is a goal of investigators from a wide range of pharmaceutical companies. Participant members discussed the variety of chemotherapy schemes in the treatment of Breast and Colorectal cancer; unique tests that can determine the patient’s sensitivity to a particular combination of drugs during chemotherapy.
They also mentioned the possibility of treating Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia without chemotherapy but using Dasatinib (tyrosine kinase inhibitor) and corticosteroid drug Prednison; the role of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer and others.
Special attention was focused on collecting a detailed patient history and determining the histological subtype before starting treatment.
Feed your research with our biospecimens!
At BIOMEDICA CRO, we built a strong network of partnered hospitals in various disease areas with direct communication to physicians thanks to our well-experienced Key Account Managers. The scientific proficiency of lab and data managers secures a multi-step quality control, while multitasking and attention to details of the project management department allow us to manage many scientific projects simultaneously.
We are a customer-oriented company and don`t fear complicated tasks. Due to our vast potential, we are always ready for new challenges!
Currently, it is feasible to provide you with the following human samples for research:
• Blood samples – single/double spun plasma, serum, buffy coat, PBMC, etc. that can be collected from donors with various conditions as well as from healthy volunteers;
• Tissue samples – diseased or normal adjacent fresh frozen tissue samples, specimens in FFPE blocks, histological slides, cryopreserved samples in specific media, etc.;
• Other biofluids – diseased and normal human biofluids, including sputum, saliva, urine, stool, swabs, synovial fluid (SF), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and others.
We can fight many diseases and improve human life only through joint efforts. Please email us to start our collaboration: office@biomedica-cro.com / LinkedIn.
