Various types of tissue preservation are available. BIOMEDICA CRO offers but not limits you with the following options:
After a surgery or diagnostic procedure, fresh tissue can be immediately put into the media which enables its viability before you receive it.
Fresh frozen tissue will be stored in liquid nitrogen in low-temperature freezers (-80°C) avoiding thawing during its storage. We constantly monitor the storage temperature by temperature loggers. Depending on your needs, the frozen samples will be shipped on dry ice or in liquid/vapor nitrogen.
Formalin-fixation and paraffin-embedding (FFPE) blocks preserve the morphology and cellular details of the tissue samples. Upon your request and specification we may search for the archived blocks; however, associated clinical data may be pretty limited. So, a prospective collection is always a better option.
For your convenience, we may prepare histology glass slides and H&E staining of the samples. Both FFPEs and slides will be delivered at ambient temperature.
BIOMEDICA CRO guarantees that the samples’ collection, processing and storage are carried out in strict accordance with our SOPs. Once you have your own SOP or specific requirements – just let us know and we’ll do our best to implement it.
Every shipment is made according to the IATA regulations. The standard weight of the tissue sample is 0,5 – 1,0 gram (or lager if necessary) and may vary upon the tumor type and size.
