Various types of tissue preservation are available. BIOMEDICA CRO offers, but is not limited to, the following options:
After a surgical or diagnostic procedure, fresh tissue can be immediately placed into media, allowing us to provide viable frozen tissue (cryopreserved tissue).
Fresh frozen tissue is stored in liquid nitrogen or low-temperature freezers (-80°C), avoiding thawing during storage. We continuously monitor storage temperature using temperature loggers. Depending on your needs, frozen samples are shipped on dry ice or in liquid/vapor nitrogen.
Formalin fixation and paraffin embedding (FFPE) blocks preserve the morphology and cellular details of tissue samples. A number of banked samples are available, and we can also offer a prospective customized collection.
For your convenience, we can also prepare histology glass slides and H&E-stained sections, as well as digital slide images (digital scans). Both FFPE blocks and slides are delivered at ambient temperature.
BIOMEDICA CRO guarantees that sample collection, processing, and storage are carried out in strict accordance with our SOPs. If you have your own SOPs or specific requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Every shipment is performed in accordance with IATA regulations. For most cases, the tissue sample weight obtained during surgery is 0.5–1.0 grams (or larger if required) and may vary depending on the diagnosis. Biopsy samples are also available for many indications.
