Scientists discovered a potential drug that reduces the symptoms of cardiovascular diseases – a study review by BIOMEDICA CRO team
Cardiovascular and metabolic diseases are the top-ranking diseases worldwide that threaten human health and burden their financial circumstances.
In the new study, researchers from Arizona State University, in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, Rochester, make critical progress toward unveiling the structure of pGC-A, which promises modified approaches in drug design.
Burnett Jr., a co-author of the study, is excited about the high impact of this work and mentioned:
“A major goal is to develop breakthrough drugs based on ANP and its target receptor in humans to treat high blood pressure, heart failure as well as obesity”.
The current work is a significant step toward characterizing the full-length structure, particularly the transmembrane domain and functional intracellular domain regions, about which little is currently known.
“Metabolic diseases are one of the most important health threats of the 21st century, with diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases taking the lives of millions each year—and the numbers are rising. The work on the pGC-A receptor has the potential to develop an effective drug that reduces the symptoms without serious side effects,” said Petra Fromme, director of the Center for Applied Structural Discovery.

Biospecimens supplier BIOMEDICA CRO – we can provide various samples for your research!
BIOMEDICA CRO has provided prospective and retrospective collections of the numerous human biospecimen types and associated clinical data since 2017.
We manage our own network of 50+ direct contracts with hospitals in many therapeutic areas and are ready to make a new one if necessary.
The access to cardiology departments allows us to supply biospecimens from donors with the following diseases:
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT);
- Pulmonary embolism (PE);
- Heart Failure;
- Myocardial Infarction;
- Myocarditis;
- Chronic Ischemic Heart Disease;
- Hypertensive Heart Disease, etc.
In addition to human biospecimens, we can obtain precise clinical data, laboratory test results and other valuable information from each donor. Due to our business model and direct communication with clinical sites, you will get the highest quality of human biospecimens and insurance that all project details are followed.
BIOMEDICA CRO team is proud to participate in preclinical trials, in-vitro diagnostics and drug discovery. We will be happy to cooperate once you need an additional supplier of biospecimens for your research.
